Lucy Slatter
We have an in-house Innovation Centre that specialises in breeding new varieties of berries.
Our aim is to breed varieties that have excellent flavour and appearance, good shelf life, yield and disease resistance. Throughout the years we have been very successful breeding many different varieties of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries which are loved all over the world!
Lucy is the Head of Breeding for Good Natured. She looks for characteristics in berries that would work well on our different global farms and different climates. She is passionate about the agricultural industry and in particular about berries, in fact at her recent wedding she had some strawberry plants in her bouquet and floral displays.
Lochy Porter
Lochy’s family have been growing soft fruit for over 50 years, and Lochy appreciates the importance of development and improvement of fruit varieties. Lochy’s farm is situated on the beautiful North East Coast of Scotland, where there is a special micro-climate that is perfectly suited to growing berries. The warm days and cool nights make the fruit ripen slowly which assists really sweet, delicious berries!
Lochy trials the new varieties developed by Lucy and the team at the Breeding Program, so that they can provide a full assessment of the berries success on a farm.
