Good natured has a special project for all creative kids!
A coloring contest!
Our buckets have this detachable sleeve that tells a special story about the journey of our blueberries!
The “Blueberry from field to fork” is the story of the journey our blueberries make from the field where they grow to your plate. From harvesting and transporting to processing the berries into a delicious stack of Blueberry Pancakes!
This is a chance for kids to show their coloring skills by coloring our “Blueberry from Field to Fork” coloring page. The finished artwork is shared on Facebook and/or Instagram with the hashtag #VanVeldNaarVork
We have three age groups of kids that can enter the contest (2-4 years, 5-8 years and 9-12 years) and per group 3 winners are selected.
The prizes that you can win are fantastic!
A Good Natured cooking apron with a matching chef’s hat! Plus to make the most beautiful Blueberry pancakes, a pancake pan with animal pattern!
We want to create a lot of Good Natured mini chefs.
The story behind the blueberry from field to fork:
Our blueberries make a long journey from beautiful flowers to delicious, crunchy sweet berries on your plate.
Good Natured has growers all over Europe where there are thousands of blueberry plants! We have so many locations so we can provide everyone with these blue healthy candies all year round!
Once the plants have white flowers, it can take up to 3 months for the berries to fully ripen. Once they have reached their deep blue color with a waxy coating, they are ready to be picked.
This can of course be done by hand with a ‘Berry Picker’, but some farms are so modern that they use specially designed large trucks that shake of the berries, so to speak.
The trucks have a tunnel of vibrating brushes that shakes the plants as the truck drives over them. The Berries fall off and are collected on the brushes. From there they roll into a large container. You can imagine that this is so much faster than picking by hand although we have to say that hand-picked blueberries are sorted more carefully.
However, we can guarantee that only the ripest and sweetest berries go into our Good Natured buckets.
After harvesting, the blueberries are quickly sorted, packed, cooled to 2-4 degrees Celsius and transported by truck to your supermarket. This entire process should take no more than a day to ensure that our Good Natured blueberries will stay fresh in the fridge for up to five days after purchase. There are even some varieties that stay fresh for up to 2 weeks!!
We do recommend eating the berries within a day or two for the best flavor and crunchy texture.
Make sure to rinse blueberries right before eating them, but only rinse the number of berries you will eat or use right away. If you put wet or damp berries in the fridge, there is a good chance that mold will form on the berries.
Blueberries are delicious to combine with any meal! Put some in your yogurt, mix them with your oatmeal or mix them with your smoothie. Whichever way you eat them, Good Natured will always ensure that you only get the very best blueberries!
